Computer Classes

McUMC will provide computer classes again in 2010. If you have been wanting to learn how to use a computer for the first time or need help in using your computer better - sign up at the New To You Store NOW!
Classes will consist of two hour classes, one day per week for four weeks. The class size will be limited to six students per class with one instructor. Current class lessons planned are as follows:
Week 1: Learning your way around the computer. The class will deal primarily with introducing the student to using the computer for personal use around the home - the Windows desktop and file structure - opening and using common programs and opening and using files on your hard drive, floppy or CD.
Week 2: Learning to use a word processor like Microsoft Word to type a letter or address an envelope - saving your work to your hard drive or floppy - finding your files once you have saved them - introduction to some other Microsoft software.
Week 3: Accessing and surfing the internet - using e-mail.
Week 4: More internet and e-mail practice - virus and spyware protection - internet service providers - buying a personal computer and what to look for - laptops versus desktops - what do you really need in accessories?
